By winning two matches yesterday, R.T. Murphy '33 and his partner Miss Mianne Palfrey, 18-year old Brookline girl, entered the semi-final round of the National Indoor Mixed Doubles Tournament now in the process of being run off at the Longwood Cricket Club in Brookline. They disposed of Miss Louise Baker and A.S. Roberts easily, 6-1, 6-1, and then proceeded to eliminate Miss Virginia Rice and J.B. Fenno Jr. '21 in an uphill struggle, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
M.T. Hill '30 and his partner Miss Annette Hollis lost to Mrs. George Wightman and G.P. Gardner Jr., 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, after gaining the third round by defeating Miss Gertrude Dwyer and W.W. Weld '16 in two hard fought sets 6-4, 11-9.
The only other Harvard man to survive the first day of play was E.B. Ward '30 who, with his partner Miss Dorothy Blodgett, was eliminated in the second round yesterday.
