POWERFUL ARMY TEAM FAVORED TO DEFEAT QUINTET

Changes in Lineup Contemplated as Coach Wachter Tries for Smoother Working Offense

The defensive strength of the University basketball team will face a severe test when it is called upon to halt the powerful attack of the West Point quintet at Hemen way gymnasium at 8.15 o'clock this evening in the first major home game of the season, and the last contest until the end of the midyear examination period.

Although the cadets have played but two games thus far, they have registered a victory in both, defeating Delaware by a large score, and winning from Columbia by a 37-30 point victory. This latter game makes the visitors a decided favorite in tonight's contest, since the University--five was overwhelmed by the Columbia quintet in the fourth game of the season.

Although the Crimson team looked ragged in the game with Lowell Textile last Tuesday, and was barely able to nose out a two point margin of victory in the closing moments of the contest, numerous changes have been tried in the University lineup, which may result in an improved offense. The substitution of S. C. Burns ocC at center for Pierce at center is likely to be the outstanding change in the starting lineup tonight, although Coach E. A. Wachter has been trying out several different combinations during the last few days of practice.

Hutchinson, the Captain of the Army team played on the Cadet football eleven in the Stadium last fall, as did Messinger, who plays right guard on the quintet. The former played in the backfield, while Messinger played end.
