The revision of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Commercial Science granted by the Graduate School of Business Administration is a timely replacement for the outmoded degree. During the existence of the Business School the advance in the rest of the curriculum, such as the application of research to business, the installation of the Tutorial System, and the correlation of the separate fields, have made the Doctor's Degree obsolete. The new requirements are a logical step to its rejuvenation.
A year of advanced study in a selected field is not too much to expect of the men planning to teach in business schools or even intending to fill certain highly-specialized industrial positions after graduation. In the addition of subjects not directly pertaining to the realm of business management, such as history and psychology, the candidate for the degree acquires a more complete and varied outlook on his own field which should enable him to apply academic theories much more readily to a particular business problem. The revised degree is a valuable addition to the Business School.
