GOOD HARD FACTS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

There has been plenty of time since the subject of more flexible laboratory hours was broached in these columns for those in charge to have reached a decision. As yet no official announcement has been made of any action which may have been taken by the committees controlling either the Chemical or Biological laboratories. Rumours have been heard that at least one of these bodies has taken the simplest though most unsatisfactory method of setting controversial questions, the pocket veto.

The arguments for evening laboratory hours have already received thorough discussion in the CRIMSON, but as yet virtually no exposition of the difficulties involved has been forthcoming. Presumably there are some reasons for the failure of the authorities to comply with the insistent demands of interested undergraduates, and if there are, no shame should attach to giving them public notice. Concealment, rightly or wrongly, always gives the impression that there is something questionable or arbitrary about the concealed. If only to clear the air of a somewhat sultry haze if not as a courtesy to the men affected, the committees responsible would be wise to give out a clear and concise statement of their position.
