CRIMSON SLUGGERS BAT OUT A 7-3 WIN OVER RED AND BLUE

Keyston Guardians Garner Six Hits, and Account for Five Runs--Gruhler Driven to Showers in First

The University nine, unleashing a severe batting attack in the first two innings, toppled their Red and Blue rivals Saturday 7 to 3. The Crimson team scored all its runs in these two frames, while Pennsylvania was unable to bunch hits off Howard Whitmore '29 until the ninth, when the invaders secured a brace of tallies. The Harvard ace was hit safely only seven times, and was given flawless support.

Weird fielding by various Quaker infielders was a factor in the early scoring. With one out, F.E. Nugent '29 singled and went to third on a passed ball, whence he scored the first run of the game on the drive of E.H. McGrath '31. J. A. Prior '29 reached first when Becker fumbled his grounder, the Crimson short stop reaching third on the play. At this juncture, the two baserunners worked a double steal, scoring a second run. Prior counted a moment later on a wild pitch.

Masters Relieves Gruhler in Second

The visiting twirler was sent to the showers after the first inning onslaught, being replaced by Masters, who fared just as badly. After Whitmore and Nugent and walked, McGrath, who had a perfect day at bat, laced a terrific drive to deep center. G.R. Donaghy '29 followed with a screeching double to right, and himself scored on Prior's infield roller.
