Entire University and Freshman Squads Now Active

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

After battery candidates for both University and Freshman baseball teams had practiced for a week in the cage at Soldiers Field, aspirants to the remaining positions reported yesterday. About 45 candidates turned out for the University team while only approximately 30 are competing for the Freshman nine.

All last year's veterans who were expected, reported. Among them were Captain G. E. Donaghy '29, F. F. Nugent '30, J. A. Prior '29, R. R. Durkee '30, A. L. Devens '30, E. L. Todd '29, E. J. Des Roches '31, and B. H. Bassett '31.

Thus far the work-out for battery candidates has been very light. No fast balls are being thrown but the practice has been chiefly a warming up period.

Yesterday, the infielders and outfielders had about an hour and a half of batting practice and a short period of fielding work.
