FOOTBALL SQUADS TO OPEN SERIES OF INFORMAL GAMES

Crimson Mentor in Horween's Absence Sends Charges Together -- Okeson Game Next Week

Harvard's two Spring football squads "Michigan" and "Florida" get their first taste of real football today when they oppose each other in the first of three regular games at 3 o'clock this afternoon on the Business School Field.

The two squads have finished two out of their three weeks practice and Coach J.L. Knox '98, who is in charge this week in the absence of Head Coach Arnold Horween has put both sides through a strenuous period of conditioning to put them in shape for today's game.

Definite lineups for this afternoon's game are not known as both E.J. Hubbard '23 coach of the Floridans and E.L. Casey '19, the Michigan mentor, will substitute freely.

It has been ascertained, however, that Captain J.E. Barrett '30, A.F. Huguley '31 and J. Trainer '31, all letter men from last fall's team, and F.J. Gilligan '32, H.M. Myerson '32, E.C. Nickerson '32, and B.D. White '32 all of whom made their Freshman numerals last fall will be in the Florida lineup.

To offset this combination Michigan will have W.A. Harper '30, R.S. Ogden '31 and H.L. Movius '30 of last year's squad in its lineup besides two Freshman numeral men, M.J. Finlayson '32 and V.A. Moushegian '32. Coach J.M. Hartley '24, who will handle the ends next fall, will arrive in time for today's game from New York where he was detained on business. He will in all probability not be affiliated with either squad but coach the ends of both teams.

Today's game will not be regulation length but will consist of four eight-minute quarters. The next game in the series comes on Tuesday at which time W.R. Okeson, commissioner of Eastern football will be there to demonstrate the new rules.
