TIMES CURRENT EVENTS CONTEST TO BE HELD TODAY

This afternoon at 3 o'clock the New York Times Current Events Contest will take place in Widener N. There will be no special registration.

The contest will consist of a two-hour examination, the nature of the examination being essentially the same as in previous years. There will be a list of identifications to be answered and also a list of approximately ten questions, to be answered in "editorial style." This latter arrangement is a departure from last year, taking the place of the "essay topics" which were required then. The news to be covered is that from June 1, 1928 up to today.

The contest is sponsored by the New York Times and will be under the direction of Dr. John F. Sly, Ph.D. '26, of the Department of Government. Besides receiving a medal and a prize of $250 the winner of the contest will have his paper entered in a nationwide contest. This latter contest will include the winners of 20 colleges and an additional $500 prize will be awarded the winner of it.

The contest today is open to all undergraduates in the college. Since there is no fee or special registration required all interested in the nature of the contest are urged to compete.
