FENCERS WILL BATTLE WITH PENN HERE TODAY

Pennsylvanians Won Last Year From University--Freshmen Defeat English High 6 to 3

The University fencing team will cross swords with the University of Pennsylvania at 4 o'clock this afternoon in the Hemenway Gymnasium. Hitherto little is known of the Penn contingent. Last year, they defeated Harvard.

In recent years Harvard fencing teams have been handicapped by the necessity of placing one man in all three events. That inconvenience has been remedied this year, the fencers being confined to one event. This change is expected to help the team materially.

The following men will fence for the University:

Foils--J. S. Ottenger '30, D. I. Modell '30, C. B. Hollister '29.

Sabre--G. B. Umbsen '29, R. W. Ehrich '30.

Epec--S. C. Smith '31, H. B. Wesselman '31.

The 1932 foilsmen won their second match of the season by defeating English High 6 to 3 yesterday afternoon at the Hemenway Gymnasium. Again Harry Beckwith '32 proved outstanding in winning all of his bouts. The match was limited to the foils event.
