CRIMSON HARRIERS OVERWHELM ELI FOR SIXTH CONSECUTIVE WIN AGAINST BLUE

Wesley, Murphy, Foote Return First, Second, and Third, Respectively, as Freshmen Make Perfect Score

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Harvard University and Freshman cross country teams outran Yale for their sixth consecutive victory over the Blue yesterday afternoon over the Charles River course.

N. P. Hallowell '32 was the first to break the tape in the University race, finishing in 28 minutes, 2-5 seconds. R. P. Wesley '33 won the first year contest, returning in 17 minutes, 39 seconds. The University team scored a 19 to 52 win, while the 1933 runners were defeating their opponents by a perfect count, 15 to 48.

Yale Leads First Mile

Starting at a fast clip, the Yale team held the lead during the first mile. Then a Crimson group passed their opponents, but Captain W. F. Smith of the Elis kept a long lead over the field. Following him at about 50 yards Hallowell watched Smith until the last two miles, during which he edged up steadily, and passed the Yale leader with the finish in sight, winning finally by ten yards.

First-Year Men Make Perfect Score

The 1933 harriers finished a successful season by swamping Yale Freshmen by a perfect score. The first six men to cross the line wore the Crimson uniform, and only three Elis finished within the first ten. The trio of Wesley, F. D. Murphy '33, and Captain Arthur Foote '33; who have been consistent leaders through all the races this season, took the first three places within half a minute of each other, in the order named. They were closely followed by N. P. Dodge '33; J. T. Hughes '33, and J. S. Hayes '33.

Next Encounter is I. C. 4A. Meet

Since the series of dual races has now been completed, the University team will start preparation for the I. C. A. A. A. A. meet to be held in New York on Monday, November 25.

The summary of the University race follows: Hallowell; Smith (Y); Aldrich: J. M. Fox '32; G. N. Barrie '32; Sturtevant Burr '31; J. W. Fobes '32; C. Bullock (Y); R. G. Hodges '31; E. T. Floathe '32. Time--28 minutes, 2-5 seconds.

The summary of the Freshman race follows: Wesley; Murphy; Foote; Dodge; Hughes; Hayes; Woodland (Y); Dickenson (Y); E. H. Clark '33; Gray (Y). Time--17 minutes, 39 seconds.
