With but one more day of preparation before Harvard's first invasion of a Middle-Western gridiron, the University football squad went through a light but brisk workout yesterday afternoon. There was no contact work whatsoever, as the Crimson coaching staff was taking no chances of running afoul of the injury jinx.
Prior to the regular session, William Murray, who was captain and quarter back of the 1919 Harvard eleven and who has been scouting Michigan this fall, gave the squad a talk on the various Wolverine formations. There was no demonstration of these plays, but this afternoon will undoubtedly find the Crimson eleven's in a brief skeleton drill against the Ann Arbor team's attack.
Clad in their new mid-season uniforms the Harvard players were given a long session with the individual coaches. The line in particular received a great deal of attention, Coaches Dunne and Hubbard drilling them on the finer points of blocking and clearing.
The entire squad, with the exception of Hugely, reported in sound physical condition. O'Connell was back at his right end post, and it seems quite definite that he and Douglas will start Saturday at the wings. There were no other lineup changes; the backfield combination of Wood, Putnam, Devens and Harper, which made its debut against Florida, was working together again. A short but snappy signal drill concluded the afternoon's practice.
