The Harvard University soccer team concluded a successful season by defeating the hitherto unconquered Yale team by a 2 to 1 score Saturday morning. The game was carried to two five-minute overtime periods, in the last of which H. H. Broadbent '32, a consistent star of this season, kicked the ball into the Blue net.
Harvard opened the scoring in the first stanza when Broadbent tallied on a beautiful shot. The play continued evenly until Morris, forward for the Elis, knotted the count in the second period.
The Sophomore center forward was the star of the contest. Besides accounting for both of the Crimson's goals with an unusually tricky kick, he played an excellent passing game. Captain Stollmeyer played well defensively in his last game for Harvard.
The soccer team Saturday completed one of its most successful seasons. Victories over Worcester Polytechnic 3 to 0; Syracuse, 1 to 0; Bridgewater Normal, 7 to 2; Dartmouth, 2 to 0; Northeastern, 5 to 1; Brown, 4 to 0; and Yale, 2 to 1 were registered; the team was tied by the Navy and M. I. T., both 1 to 1; and it lost games to Amherst, 4 to 2; and to Pennsylvania, 4 to 0.
The summary: The score--Harvard 2, Yale 1, Goals--Broadbent 2, Morris. Referee--Jenkins. Time--four 22-minute periods and two 5-minute overtime periods.
