NEW WHITAKER SCHOLARSHIP ESTABLISHED FOR FRESHMEN

The establishment of a new scholastic award, to be known as the Edwards Whitaker Prize Scholarship, has been made possible by a recent gift from Mrs. Samuel Davis, it was announced Saturday at University Hall. In addition, a second Edwards Whitaker Scholarship will be established.

The Edwards Whitaker Prize Scholarship will be awarded "at mid-years to the Freshman who shows the most outstanding scholastic ability and intellectual promise as indicated by distinction in studies and general achievement. The prize is to be awarded without regard to the financial needs of the candidates, but may be increased proportionally to the need of the successful candidate, amounting to at least $100."
