This afternoon at 3.30 o'clock the second annual undergraduate cross country race for the Gragg Richards '02 trophy will take place over the flat Charles River course.
All interested runners will gather in competition for the prize, which was won last year by Sturtevant Burr '31. Burr is now a member of the cross country squad which will run in the intercollegiate meet at Van Cortlandt Park, New York City, on Monday, November 25.
Among the favorites who will have little if any handicap are N. P. Hallowell '32, who was winner of the Harvard-Yale dual meet; R. C. Aldrich '31, captain of the Crimson harriers, who has been a consistent winner during the year; Burr, who has shown surprising improvement this season; and many other runners on the team who have exhibited speed at times.
On the other hand, there is a good chance for an untried harrier who covers the distance just a little faster then ever before, to take the trophy, since the handicaps, which will be assigned before the race, are to be generous.
