BEVERIDGE TAKES TWO FIRSTS IN TRACK MEET

G. F. Bennett '33 Wins Second Place in 50-Yard Dash and High Jump-No Exceptional Records

N. P. Beveridge '32 was the leading scorer after the results of the events of the first day of the annual fall University handicap track meet were made known. Capturing first in both the 50-yard dash and the high jump, he was rivalled only by G. F. Bennett '33, who gained seconds in the 50-yard dash and the pole vault.

This afternoon the 70-yard high hurdles will be run at 3.30 o'clock, followed by the 220-yard dash, 880-yard dash, the javelin throw, the shot put and the discus.

50-yard dash-First two men in each beat qualified. First beat-won by J. H. Elsass '30; second, R. B. Winslow '33. Time-5 3-5 sec. Second beat-won by G. F. Bennett '33; second. D. E. Mitchell '33. Time-5 3-5 sec. Third beat-won by N. P. Beveridge '32; second, E. W. Remick '30. Final-won by Beveridge (two yards); second, Bennett (two yards); third, Winslow (two yards).

440-yard run-won by H. Kollmeyer '33 (five yards); second, F. Blake '31 (ten yards); third, J. E. Hartnett 1L, (ten yards). Time-52 4-5 sec.

1 1/2 mile run-won by V. A. Lowe 1G (50 yards); second, R. J. Brennan Sp.(50 yards); third, R. Murphy '32, (50 yards), Time-7 min., 23 2-5 sec.

50-yard low hurdles-won by W. C. Rowe '31 (scratch); second, F. J. Marduller '30 (scratch); third, H. H. Caffee '3L (scratch). Time-13 3-5 sec.

High jump-won by Beveridge (scratch); second E. R. Snow '33 (scratch); third, P. S. Brown '30 (scratch). Height-5 ft., 10 in.

Pole vault-won by Oscar Sutermeister '32 (scratch); Bennett (1 ft., 3 in.); third, C. E. Duniap '30 (scratch). Height-12 ft., 3 in.
