RUMANIAN COMPOSER TO AID MUSIC DEPARTMENT

Georges Enesco, Rumanian composer and violinist of international repute is to lecture and reside in the University during the second half year, his visit here being made possible by the Horatio Appleton Lamb Foundation. During his stay in the University, Mr. Enesco will undoubtedly give several lectures on music in addition to a group of concerts, the first of which will be given in Paine Music Hall on February 15.

The famous European musician who is the first to serve under the Lamb gift has visited this country several times on concert and lecture tours. On one of these trips he acted as conductor of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. He is held in high repute in his native land, serving as musical advisor to the Rumanian court on several occasions. He has also conducted orchestras and given concerts in Paris and other foreign cities.

Just what Mr. Enesco's official capacity will be in the University is not definitely settled according to Professor E. B. Hill of the Department of Music but it is certain that in addition to giving the lectures and concerts, Mr. Enesco will act as an unofficial advisor to all students in the music department.
