Tentative plans for the new building which will house the Institute of Biology were announced yesterday by Oakes Ames '98, chairman of the committee of biologists who are working on the proposed structure, toward which the International Education Board recently contributed $2,000,000, with a promise of an additional $1,000,000 when the University shall have raised $3,000,000 for endowment.
The building will be of quadrangular shape, with three stories totalling 84,000 square feet of floor space, and will be situated on Divinity. Avenue opposite the Peabody Museum. One wing will be unfinished, abutting on the Farlow Herbarium which will be left standing for the present.
