FOOTBALL SQUAD HAS LIGHT PRACTICE DRILL

WORKOUTS TODAY WILL BE LAST PRACTICE OF WEEK

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Light work to break a week of almost steady scrimmaging was the program of yesterday's football practice on Soldiers Field. The first eleven and the scrubs will clash again today in the last practice session of the week. Coach Horween having prescribed rest for his forces on Saturday.

Long Dummy Scrimmage

Yesterday's work included a long dummy scrimmage following a blackboard talk at which new plays were given out. Most of the new plays were of the straight running variety which Coach Horween has been emphasizing this fall. During the dummy scrimmage in which teams A and B opposed each other, the new plays were practiced, and numerous long passes were attempted. These worked much more successfully than at any preceding time this year.

The backs and ends also spent some time in throwing and breaking up long forwards. F. A. Pickard '29 and R. H. O'Connell '30 both showed up very well in the capacity of receivers. The linemen practiced fast starting at the flring of a gun.

Injured Men Return

While teams A and B were running through dummy scrimmage, team C went through a long signal drill. The team C lineup was marked by the return to uniform of three men who have been out with injuries. R. S. Ogden '31 and S. C. Burns '29 were back at end while Summer Putnam '31 was calling signals.
