New Haven, Conn., June 20--John Livingston Lowes, professor of English at Harvard, was awarded an honorary degree of doctor of letters in the second day of Yale's Commencement ceremonies, here this morning. William Lyon Phelps, of Yale, read the citation.

Last Monday, Professor Lowes received an honorary degree of doctor of humane letters at the Tufts Commencement exercises.
