Joseph Francis Solano '30, of Somerville, has just been chosen as the first recipient of a scholarship for foreign study offered by L. N. Littauer '78, through the Institute of International Education of New York.
Solano will attend lectures next year on the history and literature of France, at the Sorbonne in Paris. Now concentrating in the department of Romance Languages at Harvard, he plans to teach languages following his graduation. He has been granted leave of absence for one year.
Solano, during his first two years at the University, has been active as a wrestler. Last year he was on the 1930 wrestling team, and this year he won the New England championship in the 158-pound class.
