SECOND BASEBALL TEAM DOWNS DEAN ACADEMY

VISITORS OUTHIT HARVARD TEAM BUT FAIL TO CAPITALIZE

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The Dean Academy baseball team went down to defeat before the slugging Second University nine yesterday afternoon at Soldiers Field by a 3 to 1 score. The Crimson forces bunched their hits in timely fashion to collect the winning run in the fourth frame. K. W. Crotty '29 led the University attack with a well placed single and a long triple in the final inning.

Although Connors, the Dean twirler, held the University to seven hits, the schoolboy pitcher received ragged support from his teammates. The visitors outhit the Cambridge combination, collecting nine safe hits off the offerings of J. S. Cunningham '29, but failed to make their hits count. No Dean man connected for more than a single throughout the game. Cunningham was never in danger except in the sixth frame when he allowed four hits, and one run was scored. Hillary and McCabe led the Dean offense with two safe singles apiece.

Clever base running featured in the Crimson triumph. Whenever a University man reached base, he advanced at will owing to the weakness of the opposing infield.

The University lined up as follows: Kay Miyawaka '29, s.s.; John Tudor '29, l.f.; J. J. Carver '30, 2b.; R. E. Durkee '29, r.f.; K. W. Crotty '29, c.f.; A. L. Devens '30, 1b.; H. H. Newell '29, c.; T. G. O'Neil '30, 3b.; Cunningham, p.

Dean had the following lineup: Hillary, s.s.; Dumas, c.; Connors, p.; McNamara, r.f.; Klarman, l.f.; Tobin, c.f.; McCabe, 3b.; Falcon, 1b.; Byrne, 2b.
