John Hamilton Lane '28, of Hollis, N. Y., has been appointed graduate secretary of the Phillips Brooks House for next year, succeeding M. A. Cheek Jr. '26, it was announced yesterday at a meeting of the Phillips Brooks House Committee by Professor G. G. Wilson, chairman. Lane will take office on July 1 of this year and has been appointed to serve during the year 1928-29.
While an undergraduate, Lane has been active in the various phases of Phillips Brooks House work, and has participated in a number of the activities sponsored by it. He has served at different times during the past three years, on the Conference Committee, on the Lectures Committee, and on the Text Book Loan Library Committee. He has also played basketball and has captained the lacrosse team this spring.
Cheek has resigned actual affiliation with the Phillips Brooks House, with which association he has been connected for the last six years, to accept a post as instructor of English at Phillips Exeter Academy. While there he may act as an assistant coach of football.
The appointment of next year's graduate secretary completes the Phillips Brooks House cabinet for the coming year. The list of officers follows: president, Winslow Carlton '29; vice-president, R. G. West '29; secretary, A. B. Martin 11 '30; treasurer, James Roosevelt '30; librarian, David Guarnaccia '29.
