SMITH HALL TAKES LEAD IN FRESHMAN TRACK MEET

Amasses Total of 29 1-2 Points to Take Lead Over Rivals--Vonckx, With Eight Points, High Scorer

In the field events of the Freshman inter-dormitory meet which were run off yesterday afternoon, Smith Hall amassed a total of 29 1-2 points to take an overwhelming lead over its rivals. P. N. Vonckx '31 of Smith Hall was the individual high scorer of the meet, winning the hammer throw and gaining a second place in the shotput.

The summary:

12-pound shotput--Won by H. P. Nichols '31, Standish Hall, 44 ft. 11 in.: second, Vonckx, Smith Hall, 37 ft. 8 in.: third, Beecher Moore '31, Gore Hall, 31 ft. 2 in.

12-pound hammer throw--Won by Vonckx, Smith Hall, 148 ft. 8 in.: second, J. N. Trainer '31, Smith Hall, 117 ft. 4 in." third, Nichols, Standish Hall, 85 ft. 5 in.

Discus throw--Won by P. M. Sweezy '31, Gore Hall, 104 ft. 2 in.: second, W. T. Whitney '31, Gore Hall, 94 ft. 3 in.: third, P. W. Mahady '31, Gore Hall, 93 ft. 7 in.

Javelin throw--Won by Richardson, Standish Hall, 151 ft. 3 in.: second, Harding, Smith Hall, 147 ft. 9 in.: third, C. E. McGregor '31, McKinlock Hall, 144 ft, 9 in.

Broad jump Won by W. C. Rowe '31, Smith Hall, 21 ft 5 in.: second, R. E Seeger '31, Smith Hall, 21 ft, 1-2 in.: third R. L. Rideout '31, Smith Hall, 19 ft. 9 in.

High jump Won C. A. Snelling '31, Smith Hall, 5 ft. 3 in.: second, William McKennan '31, Gore Hall, 4 ft. 10 in.: third tie between Moore, Gore Hall, and W. R. Wilson '31, Gore Hall, 4 ft 8 in.

Pole vault--Won by P. A. Tolman '31, Smith Hall, 9 ft. 6 in.: second, a tie between McKennan, Gore Hall, T. O. Frasier '81, Smith Hall, and L.N. Grimes '81, Sheppard Hall. 9 ft.
