VILLANOVA TOPS CRIMSON, 8 TO 0

Howard Driven From Box in Sixth Inning-Crimson Errors Afield Prove Costly

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The southpaw slants of John Hensil proved too much for the Harvard baseball team yesterday and Villanova turned back the Crimson forces yesterday afternoon 8 to 8. This defeat, the second suffered by the University nine this spring, was the first shut-out scored against Harvard this season and the second in the past two years.

Willard Howard '238 started on the mound for the Crimson and although he allowed only six hits before he was relieved by F. B. Cutts '28 in the seventh, the sextet of Villanova bingies were timely and disastrous. on top of this, Howard's downfall was accelerated by four costly miscues on the part of his teammates.

Hensil Too Much for Crimson

The left-hander who was hurling for the winners was a clever pitcher, even without the extra advantage of tossing them over from the port side, and his offerings were too much for the Crimson batters. In nine innings, he allowed them only six hits and struck out nine men in the course of the game.

All of the scoring was confined to two innings, the fourth and seventh, with four runs in each. In the fourth three singles, two errors, and a base on balls did the damage, while in the seventh four hits, one of them a smashing, triple one first base, were the chief factors in the scoring.
