Two innings of heavy scoring carried the Freshman baseball team to a 9 to 5 victory over the Groton nine on Saturday. Costly errors marked the play of both aggregations.

B. H. Basset '31, E. J. Des Roches '31, and R. J. Leonard '31, led the first year players in the scoring column, each crossing the plate twice. R. S. Ogden '31 collected three hits in five trips to the plate, while Bassett batted for an average of 500.

E. B. Samborski '31 and W. H. MacHale '31 received the call for duty on the mount. The former started the contest, striking out eight Groton sluggers during his five innings of action. Five members of the schoolboy nine fanned at the offerings of MacHale during the last four frames.

Following is the lineup of the 1931 team in the order it went to bat: Bassett, c.f.; Pliny Jewell '31, 1b.; Des Roches, 2b.; E. H. McGrath '31, s.s.; Samborski, p. and l.f.; B. H. Ticknor '31, l.f.; MacHale, p.; Ogden, 3b.; S. L. Batchelder '31, c.; R. J. Leonard '31, r.f.
