1931 RUNNERS TRAVEL TO ANDOVER TOMORROW

Squad of 50 Will Open Season Against Strong Competition--Freshmen Are Weak in Field Events

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A squad of 50 Freshman track and field athletes will leave from Smith Halls tomorrow at 12.30 o'clock for Andover, where the first-year men will open their outdoor season with an effort to avenge the 71 to 55 defeat of last spring. It was the field events which gave Andover the long end of the score last year, and the Freshmen are again weak in this department.

T. A. Avery of Andover is one of the chief obstacles confronting the Freshmen, as he is a stellar performer in the discus, broad and high jumps, pole vault, and 220-yard dash.

In the indoor meet with Andover this winter, the Freshmen were defeated by a score of 52 to 29, when the schoolboys scored heavily in the field events.

E. H. McGrath '31 and A. L. Watkins '31 are expected to place in the dashes. Vernon Munroe Jr. '31 and W. C. Rowe '31 are counted on for points in the quarter mile. The Freshmen are strong in the distance runs, but will meet stiff competition in every race of the meet tomorrow.

The list of those making the trip follows:
