J. L. Ware '30 won the Class B squash racquets individual championship of Massachusetts Saturday afternoon by defeating N. D. Hooe of the Union Boat Club in straight games, 15-11, 15-5, 15-7, in the first match at the University Club.
The outcome of the match was a surprise to the gallery, which had expected a close finals match after the three weeks elimination tourney. Ware, however, won his finals match with the same methodical and cool playing that marked his unexpected advancement in the tournament.
Team C squash racquetmen went down to a 3 to 2 defeat at the hands of Newton Club Saturday afternoon. With only the game with Union Boat Club on Saturday remaining to be played, team C is tied with Harvard Club for fourth position in the state Class C squash racquets interclub tournament.
The summary: A. L. Le Baron (N) defeated Erlund Field '28, 15-10, 15-13, 15-3. F. Allen (N) defeated R. G. Fiske '28, 15-11, 15-13, 12-15, 6-15, 15-8. J. C. Rueter '28 defeated J. Cryan (N). 15-8, 15-8, 15-13. W. Hayden (N) defeated Burton Richardson '29, 16-8, 18-16, 17-15. Samuel Cauman '30 defeated W. Schofield (N), 15-9, 7-15, 15-10, 15-9.
