LARGE TURNOUT FOR RED BOOK

Nearly a 100 members of the Freshman class responded to the call for competitors for posts on the 1931 Red Book last night at the meeting held in the Common Room of the Smith Hall dormitories.

The meeting was called to order at 7.15 o'clock by S. P. Duggan '31 editor of the publication. He described the competition in general and explained the nature of the separate departments. A. G. Churchill '29, a former editor-in-chief of the Red Book, related the trials and vicissitudes of Red Book work. His Freshman book was one of the most successful in recent years.

The competition will last a week or ten days. As the Red Book is starting late this year it is necessary to have such a short competition. As a result, the selecting of sub-chairmen and committee men will perforce be based on immediate action of candidates.

The work of the editorial department will consist of gathering material on sports, literary works, musical clubs, and other such activities and later in writing them up in suitable form for the Red Book. The business competition covers a variety of subjects, such as advertising, circulating, and handling of money. The photographic and art committees will consist of drawing and photographic work and also clerical work
