THE SPIRIT OF '72

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In allowing its columns to an expression of opinion on the recent examination in English '72, the CRIMSON seems to have stirred up a controversy of considerable intensity. Both sides have adduced specific complaints and if critics of the course, or rather of the examination, have been found, so have defenders.

Despite the fact that the CRIMSON can not make itself responsible for communications appearing in its columns, it may be said to vouch at least for the taste of such items, and the good taste of running criticisms of the English 72 examination has been questioned.

The CRIMSON has always made discussion of educational policies and courses one of its cardinal policies. This alone has been the reason for such features as the Confidential Guide to College Courses, and is of course the only excuse for a contributor's column.
