An earthquake of very marked intensity was recorded late Wednesday evening by the University seismograph in the basement of the Peabody Museum on Oxford Street.

The needle began to record its jagged lines about 11.18 o'clock, Eastern standard time, and continued its agitation for over an hour. The distance of the earthquake from Harvard was 2200 miles, and the time of the origin was calculated as 11.12 o'clock, Eastern standard time.

Press dispatches from Mexico City yesterday morning showed that there was a quake which resulted in several deaths about 200 miles outside the city, near the site of some famous Mayan ruins.

This is the second severe earth tremor registered at the Peabody Museum in the past ten days.
