UNIVERSITY FOILSMEN DEFEAT SYRACUSE 10-7

The University fencing team defeated Syracuse, 10 to 7, Saturday afternoon at Hemenway Gymnasium. The University swordsmen won the foils, 7 to 2, the epee matches, 3 to 1, but lost with the sabre, 4 to 0. Captain C. B. Hollister '29 proved to be the outstanding swordsman of the meet, winning all three of his foils matches.

The summary follows:

Foils: M. R. Berliner '28 defeated Beard (S), 5-4; and Perry (S), 5-1. D. I. Modell '30 defeated Beard (S), 5-4; and Perry (S), 5-4. Plank (S) defeated Berliner, 5-2; and Modell, 5-3. C. B. Hollister '29 defeated Beard (S), 5-4; Perry (S), 5-3; and Plank (S), 5-1.

Epee: Modell defeated Beard (S), 1-0. Berliner defeated Plank (S), 1-0; and Beard (S), 1-0. Plank (S) defeated Modell, 1-0.

Sabre: Plank (S) defeated Berliner, 5-4; and Modell, 5-2. Beard (S) defeated Berliner, 5-4; and R. K. Leonard '30, 5-4.
