University Team Wins 14 to 13 Taking First Match in Decade--1931 Easily Outclasses Opponents

For the first time in the history of Harvard-Yale wrestling relations, the University matmen were victorious in a dual match with Yale, closing their regular season with a 14 to 13 victory over the Blue Saturday night at Hemenway Gymnasium. The Freshmen also triumphed over the Yale first-year grapplers, 19 to 8, as a preliminary to the University contest.

Some of the best wrestling of the season was shown in the University matches, which also provided some surprises. One of these came in the 158-pound class, when J. F. Solano '30 gave Captain Miller of Yale his second defeat in three seasons of wrestling. The other upset was provided in the 135-pound class when Sargent of Yale threw Joseph Lifrak '29, New England intercollegiate champion.

Falls scored by P. J. Orgaine '31 and Paul Vonckx '31 in the last two matches of the Freshman contest clinched the meet for the first-year grapplers.

125-pound class--Whittiedge (Y) defeated J. H. Burns '29, decision.

135-pound class--Sargent (Y) defeated Joseph Lifrak '29, fall in 7 min., 38 sec.

145-pound class--C. C. Corson '28 defeated Dodd (Y), decision.

158-pound class--J. F. Solano '30 defeated Captain Miller (Y), decision.

175-pound class--Nathaniel Warner '30 defeated Holt (Y), fall in 9 min., 59 sec.

Unlimited class--Blunt (Y) defeated Captain T. D. Howe Jr. '28, fall in 5 min., 15 sec.
