Class Day plans, including the announcement of the opening of competitions open to all Seniors for Class Day ticket designs and for words for the Baccalaureate Hymn were made public yesterday by Hamilton Heard '28, chairman of the 1928 Class Day Committee. Heard was recently appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of C. A. Pratt '28.
The Class Day Committe consists of the following: D. L. Garrison '28, treasurer; H. W. Burns '28 and A. H. O'Neil ;28, in charge of the Senior Spread; C. A. Pratt '28 in charge of the Chapel exercises; W. W. Lord '28 in charge of the Yard exercises; F. B. Cutts '28 and W. B. Jones '28 in charge of the Stadium exercises.
Arrangements have been made again this year to have members of the graduating class measured by the Harvard Cooperative Society for caps and gowns. The details of ordering and delivering these will be handled by the Coop, by Leonard and Cottrell Company of Albany. If measured before April 1, Seniors will only be charged $8.50 for cap and gown, a dollar cheaper than last year. After this date, however, the price will be $9.
A competition is beginning for drawings for the three Class Day tickets. This competition will close on March 17. All drawings should be submitted to Heard at 16 Massachusetts Hall. Designs for the tickets are to be made on white paper with black India ink and are to be of simple figure. The size of the tickets is to be four and one half by seven and one half inches. Designs should bear the following words:
Yard tickets: Harvard Class Day, 1928. Admit one to the Yard, June 19.
Stadium tickets: Harvard Class Day, 1928. Stadium exercises, 4 P. M., June 19.
Memorial Hall tickets: Harvard Class Day, 1928. Admit one to Memorial Hall, 8-11 P. M., June 19.
Free tickets for Class Day will be awarded to the winners. Any further information may be obtained from Heard.
Another competition, for words for the Baccalaureate hymn is under way and will also close on March 17, when all compositions must be handed in. The words of the hymn should be set to some familiar tune such as "Jerusalem the Golden", "Onward Christian Soldiers," or "Ten Thousand Times Ten Thousand."
