In the last of the games preliminary to the contests with Dartmouth and Yale, which are the climax of the University hockey season, the Harvard sextet will encounter the Nichols Hockey Club of Buffalo, New York, on a Buffalo rink tonight.
The Nichols Club team in considered one of the stronger of the amateur club sixes that skirmish about the edges of the intercollegiate ice hockey kingdom. The Harvard skaters should meet stiffer opposition that they found on the Arena ice Thursday night, when they overwhelmed St. Francis Xavier College of Nova Scotia, 12 to 1.
Crimson Powerful Scorers
Couch Joseph Stubbs '20 will have his two complete teams available for the Buffalo clash tonight. In the game with the Canadians Thursday, the first forward line, composed of John Tudor '29, Captain J. P. Chase '28, and F. R. Giddens '29 proved its worth as mighty scoring unit. The Bigelow brothers in the defense line of the second six which Coach Stubbs will throw on the ice, have developed into a pair of shifty scoring threats, liable to dash down the ice to pierce the opposing defense at any moment.
The first line sextet which will probably start tonight's game is composed of Tudor left wing, Chase, center, Giddens, right wing, W. G. Saltonstall '28, left defense, willard Howard '28, and Joseph Morrill '28, goal.
The final clashes of the winter for the Crimson sextet will being next Saturday when the Harvard skaters will face off with the Green in the Arena. The previous scheduled game with the Hanoverians on January 14 at Hanover, was called off because of a scarcity of ice. The Dartmouth encounter will be followed by the two Yale games on February 25 and March 3.
