Four colleges, represented by 45 men, took part yesterday in the First Annual Open Cross Country Run for the E. L. Farrell cup given by D. J. O'Connell '21. Springfield College, represented by nine contestants won the meet with 29 points. Connecticut Agricultural College was a close second with 36 points, New Hampshire followed with 55, and Harvard with 79.
Harvard sent the largest number of men into the race, but had agreed beforehand to compete only for the medals given to those men holding the first ten places. Under this agreement the plaque for the most entries goes to the University of New Hampshire, which sent 11 men to the starting line.
Guy Murchie '29 furnished an upset in the calculations when he led the Harvard team of inexperienced runners to the finish.
