NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

(Ed. Note--The Crimson does not necessarily endorse opinions expressed in printed communications. No attention will be paid to anonymous letters, but under special conditions, at the request of the writer, names will be with-held.)

To the Editor of the CRIMSON:

Since this would never be printed in the Alumni Bulletin, I send it with the hope that you can print it as my humble opinion of a battle lost as well as poorly fought. Perhaps I am precocious as an alumnus.

ON READING THAT THE CORPORATION HAD VOTED FOR A NEW CHAPEL AT HARVARD

Stone upon stone to prove that we are what

They know we're not.

Stone upon stone, hypocrisy of praise

For those who left here in the tattered days,

When slogans, dashed from little mouths, congealed

In epitaphs for those who were not healed

But, iron brained, receive their recompense

In this stone crypt of common place pretense,

So many tablets, good carved bronze, a bust.

And each submerged in immemorial dust.

Stone upon stone to prove that we are what

They know we're not, Donald Gibbs '27.
