Pool's Victory Over Jones, Former Yale Star, Is Feature--University Team to Face Yale February 18

Playing a team composed of members of two of the best club teams in New England, the University Squash team defeated the combined team from the Hope and Agawam Clubs of Providence by a score of 3-2. The matches were played Saturday night in Providence, but the message announcing the results of the match was delayed. Captain J. L. Pool '28 provided the feature of the game with his straight set victory over A. W. Jones, a leading player at Yale last year.

Jones is considered by coaches in New England as one of the most likely candidates for the championship crown of this section. His defeat makes Pool the favorite in the sectional and national tournament.

The results of the matches played Saturday were as follows:

Team A vs. Hope and Agawam Club team at Providence--Harvard 3, Hope and Agawam Club team 2; Captain J. L. Pool '23 defeated A. W. Jones, 3-0; O. Duncan defeated S M. Dupertiuis '28 3-2; Carrol Harrington '24, Agawam Club defeated Seabury Oliver '28 3-0; A. G. Thacher '29, defeated T. B. Read 3-0; G. T. Francis '30 defeated H. O. Phelps 3-1.

It was announced last night that the annual match between the University and Yale is scheduled for February 18 at the University courts.
