Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
Although winter track started officially on December 5, the first intensive practice will begin today at 3 o'clock after a meeting of all University and Freshman runners to be held in the Locker Building. At the same time the managerial competition open to Sophomores will start at 1.30 o'clock in the H. A. A. offices.
The early practices were devoted mainly to conditioning the green material, but with the opening of the new practice session more attention will be paid to developing the runners for the distant events. With this in view Coach E. L. Farrell announced that the first time trials and races between the men will be held within the next day or two.
It is probable that practice sessions during the Reading Period will be held in the morning and afternoon, providing that such arrangements can be made for the runners. All men will be asked to signify what hours will prove most convenient to them for practicing during the Reading Period. From these reports the practice schedule will be arranged and announced later.
The annual Knights of Columbus meet, to be held in Boston on December 21, will be the first to test the track men, who will run in most of the important meets of the indoor season.
Three positions are open to candidates in the seven weeks competition for track managers. The winner of the competition will be second assistant manager of track for the remainder of his Sophomore year, assistant manager in his Junior year, and manager in his final year. The second man in this competition will receive the cross country managership next year and will become associate manager when he becomes a Senior, while the man who places third will be class track manager in 1930. The competition will last seven weeks.
