HARVARD GETS JUMP AT OPENING WHISTLE BLAST

The University basketball team retrieved itself from the first two defeats of the season by overwhelming the Middlebury quintet by a score of 59 to 35 in its third game last night in Hemenway Gymnasium. The reorganized Crimson team started the game with two changes in the line-up, H. T. Wenner '30 and A. W. Slocum '28 playing in the forward positions. Wenner, captain of last year's Freshman team, was the outstanding player of the evening and individual high scorer of the game, having a total of 20 points to his credit.

From the opening of the contest it was evident that the University team had the edge on the Middlebury hoopsters; the Harvard forwards especially were playing a better brand than the Vermont offense men

The University team had a slight advantage over the opponents in height and weight, but the improved teamwork and general spirit of the players appear to have been the decisive factors in the larger score.

The summary: HARVARD  MIDDLEBURY Slocum, Connell, r.f.  l.g., Casey Wenner, l.f.  r.g., Palmer Green, c.  c., Hendrix Barbee, Burns, r.g.  l.f., Sorensen Hatch, Harper, l.g.  r.f., Franzanl
