FRESHMEN TURN OUT IN FORCE FOR FALL CREW

An unusually large fall turnout of over 150 Freshman crew aspirants crowded into Smith Halls Common Room at 7 o'clock last night. Coach H. H. Haines of the freshman crews and Captain John Watts '28 spoke to the first-year men.

Coach Haines outlined the fall work. Experienced men are to go onto the river in shells next Monday. Men who have not rowed before are to practice one week on the working machines and then take seats in the Leviathan. How long a man remains in the barge depends upon his individual progress. Men showing special ability will be put into boats after two weeks. Rowing will cease on the river in six weeks.

There will be several assistant coaches this fall, among whom is R. W. Ladd '27, a member of the crew that defeated Yale last spring.
