LARGE SQUAD GREETS COACH AT START OF 1931 FOOTBALL

One hundred and forty-one Freshmen donned football togs yesterday and reported to Coach E. E. Casey '19 in the opening practice of the first-year gridiron season at Soldiers Field yesterday.

Two weeks of practice are left before the opening tilt with Andover at Soldiers Field on October 8. Although the squad as a whole is an unknown quantity, several players of prominence in schoolboy football showed up yesterday. Among these were S. L. Batchelder, a halfback from Milton, Thomas Killigan, quarterback at Exeter last year, J. H. Gildea, Boston Latin School center, B. H. Ticknor, St. Mark's fullback, and J. N. Trainer of Exeter, who is a guard.
