Princeton, N. J., June 18.--With the gift of $250,000 from T. N. McCarter, President of the Red Bank Trust Company of Newark, which was announced tonight after the first act of the Princeton Triangle Club's show in the gymnasium, the desire to make possible the erection of a well equipped theatre has been realized. Added to more than $100,000 which has been saved by the Triangle Club from its 36 annual shows, the gift will build and equip the new theatre.

This new theatre, which will form a part of the undergraduate building quadrangle is to be named the McCarter Theatre by action of the Board of Trustees. It will be the first unit of the proposed undergraduate center at Prospect Street. The auditorium will seat 900 persons.

The outside of the building is to be collegiate Gothic in design to harmonize with the rest of the campus buildings. The interior will be Elizabethan. The stage will be equipped with a view toward the possibility of using the theatre by visiting professional as well as master theatre companies.

The building will be divided into three main sections, the auditorium, the vestbule foyer with offices and rooms for the Triangle Club, and the stage work shop.
