At the one hundred and thirty-first commencement of Union College, which was held yesterday in Schenectady, New York, President Lowell received the honorary degree of doctor of law. President C. A. Richmond of Union also conferred honorary degrees on seven other men who are prominent in various activities.
At the commencement at Lawrence College at Appleton, Wisconsin, Dr. R. W. Brown, lecturer in English in the University, was among five men prominent in educational and religious circles who received honorary degrees. Dr. Brown was awarded the degree of doctor of literature for his work as author of "The Creative Spirit" and a life of Dean LeB. R. Briggs '75.
