CRIMSON GOLFERS DEFEAT HOLY CROSS

First Year Raoquetmen Defeat M. I. T. Yearlings 9 to 0--Seconds Also Down Technology Team

While the University golfers were downing the Holy Cross golf team on the links of the Winchester Country Club this afternoon by a final score of 8 to 1, two Crimson tennis teams were defeating invading racquet contingents from M. I. T. The Harvard Freshmen tennis team swept through the M. I. T. yearling net men to a one sided, 9 to 0, and the Harvard second tennis team defeated the seconds from M. I. T. on the Divinity Courts, 7 to 0.

The University golfers suffered defeat in only one match when Murphy of Holy Cross defeated Dwight Barnum '27 in a closely fought contest by one up.

The summary of the matches follows:

Stimpson (H) defeated O'Brien (H. C.) 5.4, Murphy (H. C.) defeated Barnum (H.) 1 up, Morrill (H.) defeated Fitzgerald (H. C.) 6.5, Hutchinson (H.) defeated Lee (H. C.) 2-1, Cole (H.) defeated Franzona (H. C.) 5-4, Winston (H.) defeated Dolan (H. C.) 1 up in the 19th.

Stimpson and Barnum (H.) defeated O'Brien and Murphy (H. C. 1 up 19th, Morrill and Hutchinson (H. defeated Fitzgerald and Lee (H. C.) 4-3, Cole and Winston (H.) defeated Dolan and Franzona (H. C.) 4-3.

1930 Sweeps through M. I. T.

The Crimson first year men won the six singles matches of their meet, and were not pressed in any of the three doubles matches.

The summary follows:

Singles: Hill (H.) defeated Wigglesworth (M. I. T.) 6-2, 6-1. Ingraham (H.) defeated Searles (M. I. T.) 6-3, 6-1. Ward (H.) defeated Maskell (M. I. T.) 6-2, 6-4. Winslow (H.) defeated Spraill (M. I. T.) 6-1, 6-2. Trask (H.) defeated Fuller (M. I. T.) 6-3, 6-0. Ware (H.) defeated Boehner (M. I. T.) 6-1, 6-2.

Doubles: Hill and Trask (H.) defeated Wigglesworth and Maskell (M. I. T.) 6-3, 6-0. Ingraham and Ward (H.) defeated Searles and Spraill (M. I. T.) 6-2, 6-1. Winslow and Cross (H.) defeated Vint and Fuller (M. I. T.) 6-4, 8-6.

Seconds Win Easily

The Harvard Seconds likewise found the M. I. T. racquetmen easy opposition. They had no trouble in shutting out their adversaries.
