Featured by platform addresses from outstanding men in the fields of religion, labor, education and international problems the annual Northfield Student Conference will be held at East Northfield, Massachusetts from June 15 to 23. These Conferences are conducted by the New England Field Council which represents the Student Associations of New England, five state committees and the National Council of Young Men's Christian Associations.
Among the outstanding men who will conduct the forums are Professor K. F. Mather, Professor of Geology at the University, J. Fleming, H. P. Van Dusen, Henry Sloane Coffin and H. H. Tweedy. After each of the addresses by these men there will be an opportunity for questions and comments. Forums will be held on ten subjects which the Council believes to be of paramount importance today. They are: Problems of Belief; Worship, The World Task of the Church, Industry, Race, China, Social Relationships, Modern Education. International Relations and Vocational Guidance. These groups will meet each day and will give an opportunity for an understanding of the facts, through thinking and free expression of opinion on these questions.
The entire conference will be led for an hour each day in Bible Study by Henry Van Dusen. Each afternoon will be occupied with athletics of various kinds, and a student committee will have charge of inter-delegation competitions.
This year marks the semi-centennial of the Student Christian Movement, and on the program at Northfield there will be special features devoted to the recognition of this milestone which is being passed. In this way it was believed very appropriate to hold the semi-centennial conference at Northfield where 41 years ago under the leadership of Dwight Moody the first student conference was held.
A special conference railroad round trip rate of one and one half fares will be effective from all points in New England and the Middle Atlantic states. Tickets will be issued only upon presentation of a special identification certificates, a suppy of which will be sent to each Association. The station is at East Northfield, Massachusetts which is on the Boston and Maine and Central Vermont Railways.
