A memorial to W. H. Geer, former Director of Athletics at Harvard, is soon to be erected in the University Squash Courts according to an announcement from the H. A. A.
The memorial will be in the form of a plaque, bearing the following inscription written by J. D. DuBois '24: "In grateful memory of William Henry Geer, who as Director of Physical Education was primarily responsible for the establishment of squash racquets at Harvard."
Beneath the inscription will be listed the names of the University squash champions since the sport has existed at Harvard and the names of future champions will also be inscribed from year to year.
Geer, who died as a result of an accident two years ago, established compulsory physical training for Freshman, a system which has been widely copied by other colleges.
