SONG AND DANCE TO FEATURE DRAMATIC CLUB PERFORMANCE

The musical comedy again forces its way into the limelight at the expense of the legitimate drama with the announcement made late last night by the Harvard Dramatic Club that "The Taming of the Shrew," its spring production, would be rearranged in order to make an operetta, with a full chorus of eight dancing girls and a male chorus of the same number. Song hits from most of the leading musical comedies on the stage today have been skillfully woven into this remodelling and hardly recognizable comedy of Shakespeare's, and the cast has been slightly altered in order to fit this new form of production.

The two leading roles will be played by K. A. Perry '28 and Frances Small, who will play Petruchio and Katharina respectively. Miss Small has had previous experience in the Harvard Dramatic Club as well as being the newly elected president of the Radcliffe Idler Club. K. A. Perry, who is the president of the Dramatic Club, has played leading roles in "Brown of Harvard," and "The Orange Comedy." G. B. Bingham '28 who is playing the part of Grumio and H. W. B. Donegan E.T.C. in the role of Lucentio, will have solo part and Donegan has already had experience in musical comedies on the professional stage.

Mary Caperton takes the role of Bianca, the daughter of Baptista. She is chairman of the Dramatic Committee and has done a great deal of work in staging Radcliffe productions. Charles Leatherbee, plays Baptista, A. S. Gerstein, '30, takes the part of Hortensio, Margaret Effinger plays Curtis, and Charles Hicks ocC. Biondello. All of these have been in "The Orange Comedy," Miss Effinger playing the part of the Queen. Miss Adele Wood who has played in "The Straw" given by the Radcliffe Idler Club and the freshman play, will act as Tranio. D. W. Moreland '28, is Vincentio and G. W. Harrington '30, the Pedant. Both have played before in Dramatic Club plays, the latter having participated in Brown and Nichols dramatics previous to entering Harvard. Miss Wilber, who plays the Widow, has studied at the Barnstelle Stock Company in Detroit and took part in "The Great Gatsby" there.
