In spite of a high wind the football squad competed within the secrecy of its enclosure yesterday afternoon for the H.A.A. punting and drop--kicking prizes.
Captain C.A. Pratt '28 won first prize in the punting contest with low, long kicks which averaged over 60 yards and were more accurately placed than the high, soaring punts of some of the other kickers. S.G. Burns '30, an end on the Freshman team of two years ago, took second place. The awards were made on a basis of distance and accuracy.
Two Freshmen took the two prizes in the drop-kicking contest. W.T. Wet-more '30 scored the highest total out of 15 tries, while O. L. Devens '30 displayed the next best accuracy in the art of the expert toe.
A.L. May '28 and A. E. French '28 tied for third in both departments and gained recognition as the best all-round kickers.
A full-length game, serving as the climax to the most strenuous Spring practice session in the history of Harvard football, will be held this afternoon.
