"How the American Drama can Contribute to American Progress" will be discussed by Professor G. P. Baker '87 at the Old South Meeting House Forum on Sunday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock. Music will be furnished by the Pierian Sodality Orchestra.
Professor Baker is the director of the University Theatre at Yale but was formerly the director of the 47 Workshop at the University, which he founded and developed. Before devoting himself to the study of the drama he was an instructor there in three different fields, English, forensics, and History. He carries the degree of Litt. D. from Alleghany College and ten years ago was for one winter Hyde Lecturer at the Sorbonne in Paris. Professor Baker is the author of several books including the previously unpublished correspondence of David Garrick.
In speaking of the Drama and its influences on American progress Professor Baker is expected to bring out much of the discussion which figured recently in the New Haven Conference on Affairs of the Theatre, which he attended. This meeting was also attended by leaders of the Little Theatre movement and others from all over the country.
