CREWS WILL RACE FOR SECOND TIME

Coach Brown Will Not Decide on Crews Until After Vacation--Hobson Will Organize Class Eights

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The three crews which Coach Brown has retained on the A squad will race over the basin course this afternoon for the second time this week if weather conditions are not prohibitive. Since the race on Tuesday afternoon eight men have been dropped to squad B and it is expected that Monday will see the first squad reduced to two crews. The three eights which will clash in the basin tomorrow are as follows:

Crew A--Stroke, Norton; 7, Ladd; 6, Earnham; 5, Olmstead; 4, Lanier; 3, Saltonstail; 2, Sutherland; bow, Greer; cox, Pforzheimer.

Crew B--Stroke, Perkins; 7, Emmett; 6, Hubbard; 5, J. R. Harrison; 4, Robinson; 3, Pierce; 2, Dunlop; bow, Lawrence; cox, Sullivan.

Crew C--Stroke, Hall; 7, Murchie; 6, Clark; 5, Barry; 4, Riley; 3, Roberts; 2, Eliot; bow, Bancroft; cox, Herr.

That this is not a permanent arrangement has been emphasized by Coach Brown, who says that he intends to pick no definite crews until during or after spring vacation. It is expected that an entire eight will be dropped next week and that sometime before vacation these men together with the oarsmen who have been working on the B outfit will be turned over to Coach Hobson to be organized as class eights.

There was come conjecture about the boat house yesterday, due to the fact that the name of John Watts '28 was not to be found on the A squad list Watts, who stroked the second University eight to a hard fought victory over Yale last year at New London, has been chosen by the critics as a strong bidder for the stroke position in the first boat this season. Yesterday he went out in the launch with Coach Brown and it was rumored that he will row with the Freshman crews for the remainder of the week.

No definite Freshman eights have been picked as yet, though Coach Haines has been giving particular attention to three crews from which he will probably make up his first squad soon with a few changes in seating. The Freshman dormitory crews will also be made up sometime soon and each dormitory will be given a separate coach.
